Who We  Are

True Colours Theatre is an inclusive theatre school for children and young people that live in the North East of England.

True Colours Theatre was founded in 2014 by Alisar-Jane, who is also one of our class teachers.

After Ali’s niece was diagnosed with a life-limiting condition, called Tuberous Sclerosis, she was inspired to create somewhere that all children and young people could go where they could experience performing arts in an inclusive, non-judgemental and nurturing environment.

The majority of our members have additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, anxiety disorders and physical and life limiting conditions and various mental health issues. We want everyone to enjoy being able to express themselves in a structured, and supportive way, without fear of judgement, or criticism,  and where differences are celebrated. To our members, we are a family.

Class sessions are also a place where they can make meaningful friendships with other young people that understand and support them.

We also work within the local community and educational settings delivering sensory workshops and within hospital settings delivering palliative support to children with life-limiting conditions.
